Lez's Challenge Coin.

Quilt Canada is having its annual conference and show in Edmonton this week. Lez has been going and meeting many old friends.

Tonight we attended a Quilts of Valour BBQ at the Edmonton Veterans Food Bank facility in West Edmonton. Lez was presented with a special QOV Challenge Coin for her efforts in founding QOV Canada. Challenge Coins have been used in the military around the world for over 250 years.

Day 2 of 4 at Quilt Canada being held in the Edmonton Convention Centre. "Gateway to Adventure".

This is a National Juried Show where quilts from all across Canada are judged on many aspects of quilt making and some beautiful quilts were pinned with beautiful ribbon awards. Various lectures and workshops were shared. The public was invited to view the quilts and shop in the Merchant Mall where several quilt shops set up their displays.

The Meet and Greet was a great social gathering and lots of great food.

Our now president for QOVC, Lisa Clarke Compton is here from Newfoundland. It's been great catching up with her. Deborah Edwards from Northcott Fabrics, was also at the conference. She has been on board supporting QOVC with their stunning fabric lines from the very beginning. This includes a line they designed specifically for QOVC many years ago. I cannot say enough for the line of fabrics they have designed and continue to design supporting QOVC. Their new line is Oh Canada 10 - Stonehenge 10th Anniversary Edition of new fabrics and wide backing includes a stunning maple leaf panel 43" x 24". Just add batting and backing and you have a beautiful maple leaf wall hanging. Voila!

Over 100 blocks were sewn at the QOVC Quilt Canada booth with Northcott Fabrics, Aurifil thread and on BERNINA Canada machines. To quote quilter Jennifer, can it get any better than this!

Lee and I chatted with several veterans we have met over the years. I also brought along QOVC quilt labels for them to put on the quilts they are making.

It is quite an honour to receive the QOVC Challenge Coin from the veterans. A very special and treasured gift.
