A river, a boat, a bunch of happy women.

Lee wonders what on-lookers and 'on-listeners' were thinking as this group of Macarenas floated down the North Saskatchewan River, probably laughing and shouting the entire trip.

Not that they were out of line, of course, because the city was full of lauging and shouting this evening as the Edmonton Oilers won game 3 and thereby set themselves up for the final game of the Stanley Cup Finals next Monday in Florida.

The plan was for a paddle down the North Sask River. There are 12 of us. Our boat was a very big inflatable rubber craft. Our captain was a young woman who was very knowledgeable and guided us.

The seats are also rubber inflatable sections in the boat. Everyone had boating life vests to wear. We each had a big paddle and that was our power. Fortunately the weather was a little cloudy, so we did not roast. There were clouds that looked like it may rain, but that held off. We brought our food and drink to enjoy at a turn-around and stretch point.

The weather co-operated, and we got to see the city from an angle I never expected to see. We passed the moored Edmonton Riverboat, known for its on board dining cruise. We passed Accidental Beach, a gravel bar that suddenly became much more beach-like last year during construction of the Tawatina LRT bridge upstream.

We went under the Walterdale Bridge. Quite a lot of interesting artwork painting on the underside. I'm curious how people paint there. We pulled over to a spot and pulled the boat onto shore and selttled in to eat our packed dinners. We enjoyed stretching the legs and all the food that was brought.

It was an experience of a life time - and so special with the Macarena.
