Bison by the Hudson Bay post.
Centennial Campground, Rocky Mountain House AB (1 star)
Lee was surprised to see how many National Historic sites we have been to. But the map at the Rocky Mountain NHS showed him just how many. This latest site has a small Hudson Bay post, a Metis village and a buffalo paddock. We strolled through the metis area where they had a couple of red river carts and a table covered with all sorts of pelts,
As we left, we saw their herd of bison at the entrance. Majestic as always. The info board noted that their herd came from Elk Island in 1982.
We decided to wander through the Rocky Mountain House Historical Site, very much like the other historical forts and sites we have seen across the prairies. Weather was sunny and great. A few groceries were needed, and we hunkered back in the Schooner, ensuring all windows were closed as the rain then looked imminent. There were a few thunder boomers and a few drops on the back window, but it really didn't rain. We spent time on the computers, catching up with the boys and on edits and updating the photos with any touch up needed due to the dirty lenses on the camera. We indulged on a late afternoon snooze. Life of a traveller is exhausting. (not).
