Let's not blow a tire.

Lee suggested to Lez late yesterday that we replace one of the Schooner's tires. It was starting to wear on one side and we still have a few thousand clicks to go, so why take a chance. We had spotted a tire business in Rocky yesterday. They had a used tire to fit so first thing this morning we pulled over and they replaced the tire. As we waited, a tire recycling company was in the yard picking up old tires. We were amazed at how the young helper threw tires into their truck like they weighed nothing. Oh to be young again.
Then off through amazing hills and valleys that form the first part of the Rockies foothills. All the while, the Rocky Mountains could be seen to the west, even though it was overcast.
We landed at Springhills RV Park north of Cochrane. Lez noted that we must be getting close to Calgary because the RV sites were delineated with old style cow fencing. Hee-haw.
The km's that these tires have seen - and truly not just on roads less gravelled. We do our best to keep to the paved roads, but there are just too many intriguing places to explore that pull off those smooth roads. Of course, the dust is also an issue as we travel those roads more gravelled. Our tires are something we cannot take chances with.
Yes, that young man was hoisting up the tires into a cube van. Now I have moved a tire in my day, but not lifting of off the ground, never mind flinging it into the van. I can't imagine how those muscles feel at the end of the day.
The posts and rails to keep cows in (or out) are very ranch style. We are in cowboy country. Southern Alberta.
