Shifting in the park.
Irvins RV Park, Valemount BC (2 stars)
Lee gave up on getting a reservation in Jasper National Park on the weekend (would have been slim to none, anyways), so he decided that we stay in Valemount until Monday and then make a dash for the Thompson Creek campground east of Saskatchewan Crossing on Monday. Then, on to Rocky Mountain House.
So, truly a laid-back day in Valemount. We had to move to another site in the same RV park in order to stay a few more days, but that was done in short order. The sounds of kids running in the RV Park, a bag-piper, trucks on the highway and an occasional train on the CN mainline could be heard. None of it bothers us.
A familiar sound was added to the sounds of the campground tonight, but not a sound one expects to hear as we go for an after dinner wander. Some say the sound is like a cat in trouble, but to those who enjoy a tune, the bag-piper, Colin, a PPCLI veteran was a great addition to the evening. It's moments like this I wish I had a Quilt of Valour ready to hand out. We enjoyed his playing and conversation and wandered back to the RV to do dishes - which I have left for Lee to do as I write my blog! Goin' in for a token dish towel drying session.
