Bonanza RV Park, Dawson City YT (2 stars)

It was raining in the morning but Lee convinced Lez to go into Dawson City to poke around and have lunch. It was also a good time to visit both the Dawson City Visitor Center and the Northwest Territories Visitor Center across the street.

We learned a lot. We received a pamphet with a lot of places to see around Dawson, which we will do in the next few days. Across the street Lee heard the latest about the Dempster Highway. In particular, a man was there who had just come off that road and had been all the way to Tuktoyaktuk and back. Two flat tires around Eagle Plains for him. He also left his RV in Dawson like we plan to do. Stay tuned for our adventure.

We also went to the post office to box up and send our broken camera lens to Edmonton. We were not sure what to expect in a Canada Post Office in Dawson City. As we waited, people came in and we could hear the postal employee greeting them. "Hi Joe, how are things today", "Good morning, Betty. Did you get your fridge fixed", and "Hi Jim, it's a big box, I'll meet you out back at the big door". Well, never mind the small town small talk. It's as professional a post office as anywhere in Canada. When we were done, I asked when the package might leave Dawson. "Tonight at 5 pm" was the reply.

Lez got a new walking stick medallion from the Yukon for the Diamond Willow walking stick that Lee debarked and smoothed out around 1964. He now has 6 medalians on the walking stick. Over the years we have both used the support of that piece of willow from Boggy Creek, Regina.
