We drove into Nisga'a first nations land north of Terrace to see the lava beds and the Nisga'a Cultural Museum. We then drove all the way out on highway 113 to the village of Gilgolx (Kincolith), which is on the Portland Inlet from the Pacific Ocean.
The lumpiest land anywhere. The lava beds from eons ago that bubbled up from the ground and spread across the land, burning and covering anything in its path. A walking path has been bulldozed for people to walk into the midst of a land you cannot walk on. No, you wouldn't slip - but could twist an ankle, catch a toe and let me tell you if you face planted onto that rock - you would need cosmetic surgery. An incredible and totally unexpected geological topography - another part of this awesome country - Canada!
