False negative indicators.

Cache Creek Campground, Cache Creek BC (2 stars)

Lee notices that the content indicators on the bathroom waste tank show that it is full. And, Lee has noticed some very minor water on the main locker floor. It seems that it might be full and overflowing. Perhaps the tank valve is not opening.

Before you jump to conclusions, this is the tank for sink and shower water, not the toilet tank. A small bonus, I guess.

After much crawling under the Schooner, lowering the insulation, checking the valve, and running a snake into the tank, Lee concludes that the tank is empty, the content indicators likely have gunk on them thus showing a false result and the water on the locker floor is likely spillage from loading the fresh water tank. Yes, nothing is water tight in an RV.

Lee then had to re-install the insulation and put everything away. A nice shower (draining into an empty tank) did the trick to perk him up.

Later on he spoke with the owner of the campground. He had warned the Town of Cache Creek and the local Improvement District about the significant rise in water in Cache Creek which runs through the middle of the campground. The officials came out for a look and decided that if anything should happen in town, they would deal with it.

Well, they did have to deal with it a few days later. Parts of the town were flooded, a bridge was damaged and the town Fire Hall actually got flooded. That's what they had to deal with.

I kept the home fires burning (31C degrees, pun intended) while Lee wiggled and crawled under the Schooner. When he was done, he asked me to take a shower so he could look for leaks. I had visions of shouting from below - turn it off, turn it off. But nothing happened and no leaks were found.

We had a quiet afternoon, and a simple dinner - chicken skewers on the bar-B. Meanwhile, Hobbes just takes each day in stride. Lee carries him out to view the campground, and we also put the harness on Hobbes and he helps Lee - er - watches Lee as he works on the Schooner. As soon as Lee isn't looking, off Hobbes goes to explore a little further than he should.

Thunder showers were predicted today, but it remained hot and dry. The Schooner is ready for the road again. It is time to move on to more adventures. We are not quite ready to stop, and have more places to see.

We are truly in prairie-like country again. The Crickets are chirping their song.

We are down a slope of land very close to the Trans Canada out my back window and up the slope. Slept like a log. Ready to bug-out and carry onward towards the Yukon.
