Cache Creek Campground, Cache Creek BC (2 stars)

OK, up at 8:00 am after a fitful four hours sleep. Into the store and no, they don't have a replacement valve. Try across the street, not there either. Then Lee phones Fraser Way RV and sure enough they have one. It's on hold as we drive back to Abbotsford to pick it up. Then back in an easterly direction all the way through the rest of the Lower Mainland until we reach Hope where we eat lunch and gas up.

OK, so there are signs saying we should avoid the Fraser Canyon Trans Canada Highway due to either road construction or flooding damage or both. We phone the campground in Cache Creek and they recommend we take the Coquihalla up to Kamloops and then the Trans Canada west to Cache Creek. Longer distance, but no delays.

We settle in around mid-afternoon and an aura of peace and tranquility finally falls over the Schooner.

As the travel day unfolded, and we lost ourselves in our own thoughts for the first while of driving, conversation started up about what is our next move. We have toured Vancouver Island, and are back on the mainland. We notice The Schooner is showing it's age, and we are considering bringing this adventure to a close soon. We have to consider, of course, what will we do to live in Edmonton as that would be our destination of choice with friends and family there. There will be a lot of discussion over the next few weeks as we meander our way to the Yukon and back to Edmonton.

We want to be out to the Parksville area again - for short term visits - especially with my mom still living there. And we will be ready to take selective travelling adventures, flying to where we need to - including one last visit to the Netherlands.

Cache Creek campground is a very nice campground, the new owners very helpful. Our spot was well treed and the shade helped us keep the RV comfortable in a day that reached 31C. I would recommend the campground without hesitation.
