Map - Parksville to Homewood on Quadra Island Meanwhile at the quilt retreat

Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)

Lez had the alarm set for 5:30 am, but it was not needed. We were awoken just before 4:00 am by sirens and lights driving past our Schooner. We then noticed flames coming from further in Surfside Resort. Needless to say, we did not fall back asleep.

Lez was off to her quilt retreat at 7:00 am. It's just Lee and his bike for the next five days.

There really are two 4 o'clocks's in a day. Sirens woke us up - as it did I'm sure, across the entire RV resort. Fire!

The fire was at the far inside end of the resort - far from our unit, but all the emergency vehicles pass our place coming in. Their sirens trigger the automatic opening of the gate into the resort. Sirens and flashing lights from four emergency units were not the alarm I was expecting. My alarm was set for 5 am anyway, so no going back to sleep.

Why was my alarm set you ask. I'm off to a quilting retreat on Quadra Island! The Man and Hobbes are batching it for the week.
