Annie McLeod was born on her father's homestead in the Pambrun district around 1910. Anne, as she was known, had an older sister Margaret who died from pneumonia at age five. She also had an younger sister Helen who became a teacher and moved to Ontario.

The homestead address was SE-04-11-11-W3. It is located about four miles/six kilometers south of Pambrun, SK.

Her father was Murdoch McLeod and her mother was Mary Joseph Cornell. They were both born in Ontario. Murdoch eventually had three quarters of land (the original pre-emption quarter and two quarters adjacent to the homestead pre-emption). Whiska Creek ran through the property but was generally dry in late summer.
