Alf Poulter was a second generation Canadian whose parents had emigrated separately from England to McLean, SK.

Alf's father, Arthur Poulter emigrated around 1910. His mother, Grace Chandler, emigrated around 1920. They were married in McLean.

Alf was born in McLean and worked on his father's farm until the war broke out. As far as we know, Alf never held any other employment.
