Lee hauled our unit over to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal. We got there well before the sailing time, so we had time to chat with neighbours in the truck/oversize vehicle lanes. As usual, Hobbes was the hit of the immediate area.
After an uneventful ferry crossing, we headed up to Mountain Aire RV Park to spend a couple of nights until Surfside is available. Mountain Aire, while having very nice trees and smells, is generally run down and has very tight spaces. It took many back and forths to get the Schooner into a spot, and not the one they had originally assigned to us either.
We had a very nice visit and dinner with Colleen and John in our living room.
Lez doesn't even take photos as we cross the Strait of Georgia! Traffic is very heavy now through the Fraser Valley, and we would have been on that road, forth and back to Burnaby for another 4+ hours if we had ventured out yesterday to meet up with Brenda. It was a difficult decision to forego the visit, but it was a good decision.
Yes, we have traversed the Tsawwassen to Duke Point route on many an occasion. With the cloudy skies and cool temperatures and nothing out there but the tug boats pulling container barges and the returning ferry, the camera rested. A quick trip to the Mountainaire Campground before the rain really started has us tucked in for the night.
We connected with friends John and Colleen (Macarena) earlier in the day, and once we docked, confirmed they could come and visit. They arrived with Chinese take out and we moved our kitchen table and chairs to the middle of the "living room" space and enjoyed a wonderful catch-up visit. This was the first time they had seen the Schooner and were quite surprised to see the amount of space we have here. Again, the camera rested. We are thankful for the safe travel we have been able to enjoy, and the ability to connect with long term friends - whether around a dinner table or via emails.
