Tooling around Cold Lake.
Runway RV, Cold Lake (2 stars)
Time for some shopping and some chores. Unfortunately, the aviation museum (located at the old radar station) was closed.
We drove into the original part of Cold Lake and were surprised to see a large marina filled with boats, and some sailboats also. Cold Lake is huge, and clean.
Lez connected with local QOVC rep Catriona: And, of course, Timmies was the coffee spot! We have met before, and both being quilters managed to talk away a couple of hours.
The Runway part of the RV campground is in line with the local municipal airport. This morning a small personal aircraft took off, and as it climbed above the trees it did a loop. What a sight to see fairly close up. As I recounted the view with Cat, she noted that someone was practicing for the air show next weekend. Well! We sure missed a chance to take in another spectacular event! We have seen quite a few (Moose Jaw/Edmonton/Whitecourt) over the years. Perhaps next year we can wander this way heading east! It is supposed to be one of the "big" ones.
As we headed back to the RV park, we found a small road block - gaggling geese decided to walk the road instead flying from pond to pond. I did my best to "encourage" them to at least move to the side of the road so we could get past. They sure can mutter.
