Up at the crack of dawn and back to the Martin sand dunes area. The cows were interested, curious, apprehensive and sometimes scared. Chuck ended up with a cow lick on the tailgate. This is undisturbed prairie and showing all the typical vegetation found on prairie sod. The chokecherries were in abundance.
On the way back we drove up to a herd of horses that included one palomino. They were curious and came right up to the fence.
Chuck the Truck is a very big 1-ton GMC. It looks very small on the vast prairie land. It does, however, have no trouble 'off-roading' as we blaze our own trail to see various vistas of this vast land. It fits right in here - as the ranchers all drive various trucks - they are the working tools out here.
The horses here are truly working horses too - as much as we saw them at the horse show with groomed coats and braided manes - their work is on the range as partners and transportation for the ranchers, checking the cattle, calves, and fences that must be kept up. This life is a very physical one - the words 'spa' and 'excercise class' are not needed here.
