Road trip to Campbell River.

We drove to Campbell River today so Lez could attend a QOV National Sew Day event in that city. It still amazes Lee how QOV has grown and how Lez is held in such high esteem as the founder of QOV. It is so nice to see their reactions when Lez enters the room. She deserves all of the accolades they pass on to her.
During part of the day Lee drove over to the Campbell River spit to get a few shots. The weather even cooperated.
Feb 2 is the Quilts of Valour National Sew Day. It is, as far as I know, still being recognized across Canada.
Lee and I were invited to join the Campbell River quilters for the QOVC National Sew Day. What a super great road trip and Quilt Day. Lee dropped me off and went photo taking of the event and the townsite. I joined the Campbell River quilters making Quilts of Valour for our veterans. It is always a step back in time in re-telling of the meeting with the injured military a gazillian years ago. They also invited a serving member of our forces to speak to the group. He is a recipient of a Quilt of Valour and there wasn't a dry eye in the room as he spoke of what that quilt means to him. A HUGE thank you goes out to all those across Canada who are ensuring our miltary receive a Quilted Hug from Across the Nation. This kind of day is made possible because you care and appreciate the freedoms we have.
It was a long day - including the travel - but weather was great, roads were clear and it was an outing, a break from living in the "tin can".
