Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)

Chuck has not driven that far in a day since October last year. All the way to Ladysmith and back, about the same as going from our old house in Edmonton out to Port Ordze and back. Wow, we have slowed down.

Do they roll up the sidewalks in every community on the Island I realize the average age here is about 110 years, but you would think there would still be somebody on the road at 11 pm at night. Nope. The Anthony Henday is not this quiet at 4 am, ever. NIce to drive though, wth all lights green and no oncoming headlights to hinder us.

Lez smiles: What a nice day it has been. After a few chores 'in town' we settled Hobbes in with full dishes of food and water and headed out to Ladysmith. We maintained respectful protocol and enjoyed an afternoon and evening with Pat and Norm. So many stories, and many more laughs as we caught up on a couple of years since our last visit with them. We shared stories of respective adventures in Europe and RVing adventures, as they too have done similar travel, house sale and RV life. A very quiet drive home on a highway that saw one commercial truck that passed us. 11 pm, and the Mid-Island Highway 19 was deserted. Safely tucked in back at the Schooner. Sweet dreams.
