Hope Inn and Suites, Hope BC

Off I went at a decently early hour to catch the 10:15 am ferry to the mainland. I must admit, I will miss Parksville and the people.

The ferry was on schedule and by 12:15 I was at the Twassassen ferry terminal and back on the mainland.

The main highway from the coast to go inland and beyond starts with essentially one road, the Trans Canada Highway through the lower mainland. There has been construction on this road for many years and by the looks of it will continue for many years if not decades. I suspect this because being in a social leaning province, all of this work is done with unionized labour. Hence the observations of idle machinery, copious red traffic cones that may have not moved since 1980 and the occasional groups of labourers drinking coffee and glued to their cell phones.

Never mind, I made it to Hope, where the one road turns into three (Highway 1, 3 and 5).
