Cornstock was sold out today with 2,300 fans braving the +35c heat. And without shade to boot.
The first band was one of my favourites, the band Harlequin from Winnipeg. I have seen them many times since the 80's. They too sound better now than ever before. What I always look forward to is watching Derrick Gottfried plie his trade on guitar. He might be one of Canada's best lead guitarists. And what a performance he put on. A smokin' guitar performance.
Next up was Sass Jordan. She has an incredible, powerful voice. And she has a great stage presence. I guess it helps when your husband was watching from behind the sound board.
It was 54-40's turn next. I never paid much attention to them over the years, but they have been a very successful band for many years, selling a slough of recordings since 1981.
I decided to skip the last act, Big Wreck, who was the closer band. I have never found a like of their music. So, I packed up and drove back into Lethbridge a little earlier than planned.
