I spent the morning walking around the neighbourhood where I lived after emigrating to Canada. I suppose it should not have been a surprise that things have changed significantly over 60 years. The house is still there, elbeit older and a little run down. The public school where I learned to speak English, Thomson School, is still in use and looking good. I walked through the school grounds, reminiscing about learning how to play baseball and spending recesses with new friends.
I had an opportunity to spend lunch with another great friend in Tammy Hicks who is Brenda's daughter. I knew her from the time she was a toddler, but I got to see here more in recent years because she volunteered at the music festival, Shake the Lake, that Lez and I went to a number times. It was always so nice because when she saw s walking over to her, she would stop the beer she was serving and give us a big hug.
