The chemical disposal saga.
We got right at it boxing up Ralph's stuff. There were quite a few momentos to be taken to Edmonton and Regina. We hoped our car would have room for it all. The next two days would tell the tale.
One of the chores was to find a proper disposal site for a box of household cleaners from Ralph's apartment. First to the transfer station (I still call it the dump) where they said that it should be taken to the recycle centre. At the recycle centre they would not take them and said we should take it to the Nanaimo Regional recycle facility. So, after dropping Alec off at the ferry, we stopped in Nanaimo at that centre. Nope. They don't take that there. They gave us a sheet with handy phone numbers we could use to find out where to take the Javex, Dutch Cleanser, Dawn dish detergent, etc. Enough of this run-around. In the hotel garbage bin it went.
We mde some pretty tough decisions as to what would be coming back to Edmonton with us, and what would be going to Goodwill and what would be going to the dump.
On the last load to the dump, we also took the kitchen garbage can. This ungodly thing had been a pain in the rear for Lee all those years he had visited Grandma and then Ralph. Under the kitchen sink, too tall to reach in, too small a pedal to open the lid. Just a big pain. So, at the dump, Lee took great glee in jumping on that garbage can until it was almost flat, before throwing it in the metal recycle bin. Good riddance!
