Lee wonders whether the lonesome American forces member in 1942 realized what he had started. A simple sign showing how far he was from home has become this incredibly large and varied collection of signs from all over the world.
Our next stop is Watson Lake, where there are at least 77,000 signs hanging on posts. Yes, three zeros. Google says "It was started by a homesick GI in 1942. He was assigned light duty while recovering from an injury and erected the signpost for his hometown: Danville, Illinois."
