Last Mountain Regional Park (1 star)

We headed for Saskatoon this morning to catch up with Lez's brother Ralph. We met him and passed on some of the Worel parents stuff that he wanted to have. Then we headed for Last Mountain Regional Park. How about 17 kms on a gravel road! Oh well. The park was terribly overpriced ($ 50.00) for a site that had 30 amp power and no other services. No water, sewer or garbage container in sight. After a steak supper (during which we took two minutes and moved the unit forward about three feet so we could reach the electrical post) we wandered over to the lake and took some nice pictures. Then we visited the bird banding station where gramps had spent many days (and some nights). As we walked back to the Schooner we managed to catch the ice cream shack still open so we could enjoy some Chapmans ice cream.

Lez is truly slowingdown: After leaving Biggar, we stopped in Saskatoon, a SuperStore stop, as we ensure we have the groceries we need for the week. We also connected with my brother Ralph, who was in town too!

We had planned to spending the night at Watrous, checking out Manitou Beach, but the private campground there does not take foreigners at this time. However, Regional parks are open - and this one is busy! We ended our day at Last Mountain Regional Park, on Last Mountain Lake. It is a VERY long lake with a bird sanctuary at the top end, and Regina Beach at the bottom end (just a ways north of Regina!). google map it! The regional park is where my dad spent many days volunteering to band birds. Finally saw this place that meant so much to him! Will enjoy the morning start with some more photography.

Speaking of missing signs,(were we) aside from a few retracings (like today's dead end) we are doing ok! And Lee is getting practice at backing up! AND Hobbes got that mouse too! We only found pieces.
