What an amazing drive through the mountains.

Lee thinks today's drive to and from Haines Alaska may have been through some of the most majestic mountains and meadows in Canada. The St. Elias mountain range is incredible, including (just out of sight) Canada's tallest mountain, Mt. Logan.
Haines is a much quieter place than Skagway, perhaps because they don't allow many cruise ships onto their waterfront. Even though the annual State Fair was on, Haines was relatively quiet. We had a nice lunch of some amazing halibut fish and chips.
We drove up to Chilkoot Lake to see if there were any bears in the Chilkoot River, but none were seen. They must not be looking for salmon because there were fisherman all over the river, something I presume they would not be doing if there were bears in the area. We also did not see any eagles.
More 'nots' included no available spaces in campgrounds along the road, save a couple in the Million Dollar Waterfalls campground. Lee is glad we did not pull the Schooner down that highway looking for an RV site.
However, Million Dollar waterfalls is well worth seeing. The amount of water going down those falls is amazing.
We saw so many things today - it is amazing what Canada is has to offer - the vastness, the variation of topography, and nature. The land we travelled through today had mountains that rival the Rockies for spectacular. Glaciers that rival any we have seen, we just can't get close to them. We were VERY lucky to snap a pic of a juvinile Eagle enjoying some nibbly on a ridge beside our highway. A quick snap and WOW ! We didn't dare stop, as that would likely have made it fly away. The Million Dollar Falls earns every penny. We found lots of Buffalo Berries (we had to look them up) and do you think we tried any - not thinking. We understand after the fact they are an 'aquired taste'. Hmmmm.
We did find Chuck's namesake - he has a Creek named after him LOL on the way to the Haines Summit. Yes, Chuck Creek.
Fireweed, the offcial floral emblem of the Yukon is the purple flower that fills many roadside ditches.
