Even in the Yukon, kids swim in the lakes.
Pine Lake Territorial Campground, Haines Junction YT (2 stars)
We stayed in Pine Lake campground one more night, thereby enjoying the peace and quiet during the day. There were mothers with their kids on the beach and in the water. It could have been Katepwa Lake. Well, except for the mountains.
We decided that we will leave the Schooner here tomorrow and drive down to Haines, Alaska to hopefully see some bears trying to catch salmon in the Chilkoot River.
Another great night for a firepit.
And a bonus. We still have not had any significant numbers of insects to swat, even though the Yukon is notorious for them. Just a mosquito here and there.
A quiet morning, a lazy sleep in morning. Well, you only know it's morning by looking at a clock. It still isn't getting totally dark at night. An orange sunset through the trees was midnight.
We caught up with the kids today, great to hear their voices.
A walk to Pine Lake netted another few photos (few used lightly). It is a very large lake and judging by the kids jumping in the water, not really very cold. We didn't tromp through the sandy beach to confirm our thoughts.
We chatted with the kids today, touching base to let them know we are doing all right. Yes, we do keep the blog up to date, but I don't imagine they rush to read it every day. BIG GRIN.
