And then they were gone.

Map - Teslin to Whitehorse

Pioneer RV Park, Whitehorse YT (1 star)

Lee wakes a minute or two before 8 am and can hear the tiny rustle of cutlery from inside the RV unit next door. Then promptly at 8 am, the stabilizers are being raised, the engines start and fathers are telling everyone what to do to get going. Then, promptly at 8:10 am, they are all gone. The place is empty. And Lez is just getting out of bed (earlier than usual Lee might add). Too funny.

An uneventful drive from Teslin to Whitehorse. We set up in the RV park and head into town for a look-see, lunch and a quilt shop. Lee leaves Lez at the quilt shop and finds a car wash to remove the overdue Telegraph Creek mud off the truck.

Back at the RV park, we sit having a late snack, it's almost 11 pm and the sun is still shining low on the horizon. We take photos outside at midnight.

Highways are in good condition, no heaves, no large cracks. A solid rock base must be under the thin layer of soil. We drove through miles and miles of trees and road and surprisingly to me - mountains in the distance. From time to time we see what appears to be sand quarries and I suspect, given the winters this far north, the roads need the sand for vehicle traction in winter.

Bear's Paw Quilts in Whitehorse is a well stocked store for quilters. I could not resist a purchase, four 'fat quarters'. Tip: For the non-quilters, the shop takes a square meter of fabric and cuts it into 4 equal quarters, each about 19x19 inches. I used to work in a quilt shop, and cut, folded and priced endless FQ's. Perfect for making quilt blocks for a quilt. I am getting the bug again, and may be spending time at the sewing machine instead of the computer. Yes, hauled with us, craftily stored are meters of fabric, a sewing machine, a quilting machine, a cutting mat and several clear rulers with marking in inches (yes) for slicing up the pieces of desired size using a rotary cutter - of which I have 3 sizes. LOL. The pieces are then sewn back together in various pattern arrangements.
