Visited an old cannery and a wedding had broken out.

Lee wanted to do something special for Lez's 71st birthday, so he took her to an old salmon cannery.
Ok, ok, it is the North Pacific Cannery National Historic Site and we had a great time there. In fact, a couple from Terrace had just had their wedding there the day before.
At one time there were over 200 canneries on the BC coast. Now there is only one, located in Vancouver. The lack of salmon is almost certainly the reason.
The site has been very well preserved and is full of both cannery artifacts and general living artifacts. Every worker lived on-site for the four or so months (June to September) per year that the cannery was actively canning salmon.
Can you imagine going to a salmon cannery and not bringing home any canned salmon
Well, it is a museum. When we arrived the take-down of a wedding day and evening before was underway. Bride and groom were right in the clean-up. As we wandered through, we were invited to enjoy some of the leftover food for our lunch! It meant less stuff for them to pack out.
Our cameras were snapping photos in an unprecedented speed. 380 in 3 hours. If there ever was a historic site to be promoted, this is it. A life of very hard work, very repetitive, monotonous work which required one's whits about them at all times.
Yes, we will share only the highlights LOL. However, there are many, and three phases of the day are being prepared. A memorable 71th (grin) for sure.
