From horses to goslings.
Williams Lake Stampede RV Park, Williams Lake BC (2 stars)
Lee had noticed that some people were riding their horses in the corral again this morning. So we wandered over to have a closer look. As it turned out, most of the riding was done but one of them saw us coming and brought her two horses back out of her trailer. Very nice of her. She has a 2 year old brown one and a 32 year old white one. Lez was in her glory. After she loaded them up again and drove off we noticed the name on her truck read Deep Pockets.
Lee had spotted Scout Island on Google Maps and he talked Lez into going over for a hike. It was well worth it. On the very first trail we scared up a pair of mule deer. Shortly thereafter we saw a muskrat in the water. And the air was filled with birds singing. Well worth it. Now to identify all the plants and flowers.
Later on we noticed that horses were again being ridden in the corral. In discussion with one of the riders we discovered that she owns Cachet, a great-granddaughter of Northern Dancer. Lez was in her glory today.
Runways Less Gravelled - the next travel adventures after we are done with the RV'ing of Roads Less Gravelled. Yes - as we chatted yesterday about going forward we realized we want to see the Netherlands (if not more of Europe!) once more.
This is a long weekend Monday - Victoria Day - a stat holiday. As we enjoyed lazy breakfast, the Man's home made bread (breadmaker LOL) toast and jam breakfast discussion turned to our love of rock and roll. Having the Beatles' A Hard Day's Night CD playing was the catalyst. I fell in love with the Beatles long ago with a gazillion other teenage girls way back when. What a time to live and enjoy the rock and roll. Thanks to tickets from Alec, we were able to see Paul McCartney in Edmonton. I still love the music. I remembered my dad calling me George - not because he was a favourite, but because I wore my hair like the Beatles. Memories. I think that CD may play a couple more times before we head out for the day!
What a diverse and wonderful day. Photos tell it all - from the marshes to the corral where we met Cachet and her owner. It brought back memories of my cousin Lily and her rodeo riding in Montana.
We enjoyed a good hike along the shores of Williams Lake, a nature sanctuary and Scout Island.
