Aluminum pieces blowing in the wind.
Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)
Geez, the wind continues to blow hard. Lee wants to install that new piece of aluminum skirting. The trick is - hold it close to you body and at right angles to the wind. He eventually gets it cut to size and dry fitted. It's all good.
Game five of the VIJHL final at the Howie Meeker tonight. This game soon has some serious injuries. After one minute, the Predators goalie leaves the game with an arm injury. Later on, Generals defenceman Carlson is seen on the bench being taped up for a shoulder injury. He never returns to the ice in the game.
Well, the game goes into overtime. Soon, Brady Van Herk takes the puck behind the Predators net and passed to Carson who ends the game with an overtime goal. The rink goes crazy. That's three games. One more and the title belongs to the Generals.
Memories of the Quadra Island retreats have come to mind today. It was a quilting immersion and I am now setting up to stretch the backing and pin another quilt I have made from a set of fabrics from the Parksville guild. It's a blustery day and only 9C as I write at noon. The sewing table beckons, where Hobbes gives me some space to stretch the the quilt layers to be pinned together. With a bit of luck I may even bring out the mid-arm quilting machine.
Lee is outside to install the aluminum piece he purchased yesterday - as long as the wind doesn't take it down the road first. A blustery, rock-the-Schooner day. I feel like we are on the high seas - apt for a Schooner.
As always since receiving the van Herk jersey, I was suitably dressed to cheer the team on. Eith our Looking forward to the next game!
