In the doldrums.
Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)
Surfside RV Resort seems to be located in a small eco-system of its own encompassing the Englishman River estuary, Surfside and the Parksville Boardwalk. It is about two kilometers long and one kilometer wide with an elevation between one and three meters above sea level.
As is often the case, there were rain clouds all around this eco-system today but only a light cover locally. We even had a ray or two of sunshine. Very strange but enjoyable. When it snows in downtown Parksville (about 750 meters away, up the hill) it generally only rains down here. There always seems to be a two to five degree difference in temperature.
We stayed warm and comfortable indoors and enjoyed a great Wienerschnitzel and Spatzle dinner washed down with a nice Riesling.
Our morning started off with a rainbow to the north, faint but there in a full semi-circle - ending over the mainland to the east. The weather was calm, the sunset had the distant clouds a bright orange that were totally reflected in the calm waters in the estuary behind us. Quite spectacular.
I spent most of the day sewing at the back table, making a potential cushion cover for my chair. Maybe. If I find lots more of the unused fabric strips, I may make it bigger and into a small quilt. There is always someone who could use a quilted hug.
We've been wiling away our evenings watching a TV series called Yellowstone. Well written, well performed by the actors. Kevin Costner is the star actor, the father of the family on a Montana cattle ranch. Certainly not a PG rated series. But spell-binding.
