Men (and women) with brooms.
Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)
Our neighbour Theresa was back today for a few days. She wandered down to our end of the channel to say hello. Conversation soon turned to plants. She noted that what we have along the channel are Broom plants. These are a highly invasive species brought over from England by some idiot and the plants now grace (or disgrace) just about every roadside and ditch on the island. Next thing you know, Lez, Cami, Theresa and Lee are pulling out the few we have here and getting them into the garbage.
In the afternoon, it's time for an other Oil Kings game. A return match against Calgary results in another blowout, this time 7-1 for the good guys. Life is good.
And to top it all off, the Oceanside Generals avoided elimination by beating Comox in their building thereby setting up the decisive seventh game in Parksville tomorrow night. We will be there.
Lez notes a busy day: As morning progressed, the clouds all vanished and we decided to go for a another walk - this time as far as the hardware store and ambled our way back popping into the model train store. I am a sucker for just enjoying the model layouts and various rail cars out there. We then stopped in the used CD and record store. Yes, we picked up a few CD's there.
The blue skies beckoned and even Hobbes spent more time dragging dad out for a walkabout, until the Oil Kings game took dad's priority, and then I followed Hobbes for a bit. That's when we confirmed the Broom plant has decided to grow on our side of the estuary channel. Deep roots were a challenge, but we believe we have stopped the invasive spread on our turf.
Mom joined us for a ribs and rice dinner tonight, the ribs cooking to off the bone tenderness in the Instant Pot. It was another great evening of stories from the Worel past.
