George Carlin around the fire pit.
Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)
Lee is putting together a facts and metrics page for the Roads Less Gravelled web site. We certainly have driven, photographed and enjoyed a lot of places and roads to this point.
We stood around our neighbour Ron's fire pit into the late evening talking about life. As Ron points out, we are all very direct with our opinions and we all enjoy the humorous side of stories. Naturally, we all have a great love of George Carlin's humour. It feels good to laugh in the crisp and clean air.
Lez is reminded of this day, 2020, as Facebook loves to offer you to share a memory. The posted text says ' Well after enjoying the beautiful touches of snow around the yard, reality hit. The man was out and I knew he would have to plough through the 6" of snow with ice underneath to get into the garage, so I cleared the driveway. House is for sale.'
Today, two years later, we wandered the Englishman River estuary on the RV site side. We enjoyed a cool but sunny day and Hobbes was outside several times - with mom or dad chaperone. His encounter with a neighbour's dogs was a little hissy. There are lots of rain chains on the island - and I highly suspect none have EVER looked like those on the Edmonton house in February. People ask if we have regrets selling and leaving the big house. I just smile, no regrets.
After our night walk to the central garbage bins, we noticed neighbour Ron enjoying his evening outside and wandered over to say hi. He turned on his firepit, and we ended up talking for an hour. There was frost on his deck as we left. Clear skies quickly cooled off the land.
