Stumping the estuary.
Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)
Lee wonders if we will have one more king tide before we leave for the summer. If so, our view out back of the Schooner will be of one big lake, with no land showing. It will be impressive.
Lez is chilled right through: A lot of activity and the changing view of the estuary today is hourly. This morning the high tide was five meters high just before 8 a.m. The camera is clicking as I keep popping out of the Schooner to capture the most interesting process to return the estuary to a better haven for the wildlife. The short time frame they have seemed quite impossible, but the berms are disappearing or getting spread out. Tomorrow is their last day. We just watched them anchor an old cedar tree trunk root ball into the estuary. It is weighted down with sandbags and sunk to the bottom with a bit of the trunk showing through. Something for the clams to grow on or for baby fish (fry - yes, called fry) to be sheltered from the gulls, eagles, seals, otters and other predators. It will be interesting to see the high tide effects tomorrow.
