Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)
Lee takes one for the team. He drives Lez over to mom's place so Lez can accompany Ralph to Victoria. It is still dark as he returns to the Schooner, but soon the daylight begins and he can see we are in a higher than normal tide. The water level is about a foot below the gravel pad. It makes for some nice photos.
When Lez gets back, we take a drive out to see what another RV park looks like at this time, especially with snow. The place is called Pineridge RV and it leaves us a little disappointed (or perhaps appreciating Surfside). And, it is a long drive every time we would want to go somewhere, as in that litre of milk. Stroke that place off our list of alternatives.
Later on, after a snooze, Lee makes a home-made pizza. We enjoy that in our cozy place.
Lez queries: There are TWO 4 o'clocks in a day LOL. Up early to go with my brother to Victoria for an appointment at 8. In the morning. The roads were pretty wet, but not sloppy. When we headed out it was pitch dark, and the highway was a solid line of red rear lights ahead of us, and white headlights coming towards us. Who knew so many people were out and about at 6 or 7 a.m. OK, I sleep in until the sun comes up!
It was a lot of driving time spent with the oldest and youngest of the siblings - me having left the house to marry my dear hubby when my brother was 9. There was so much we never shared as he grew up playing many sports, and I may have caught one or two of his games in all those years. By the time he was an adult, Lee and I were living in Edmonton in our own worlds. For that time today, I am thankful I was able to spend the time together. When this darn weather clears up, and before we travel onto our next leg of the adventure, I do hope to include him in a few of those adventures - if only visit some of the tourist sites and take goofy pictures to share the memories.
We were home mid-afternoon, roads still wet, but at least we had a good view of where we were going. 150 km each way, and over half a dozen cars in ditches and one head first into the concrete median. Roads were slippery.
An afternoon nap was needed.
