Guests for dinner in the Schooner.
Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)
Lee thinks this incessant rain is most obtrusive to Hobbes. He wants to go out so badly. At one point, Lee took him out. Hobbes went no further than the top step!
Our first home cooked meal for four persons went so incredibly well. The seating is comfortable, the serving is easy and so is the clearing. We might be doing more of this. And then above all, it was so nice to see Ralph manoeuvering with the aid of his canes and prosthetic leg. No wheel chair in sight. Good on him!
Lez preps for guests for dinner: Well first off - a great coffee catch up with quilter Chris - at Bradley's Bistro in town. It was good to chat without the back and forth of time lapses between emails.
After a quick grocery shop, back to the Schooner to prep the various meal items, trying out a new recipe idea from friend Pattiann - pecans with seasoning added to thinly sliced brussel sprouts. Added potato wedges and an Instant Pot prepared small ham - and dinner was totally consumed, along with a bottle of Wild Goose Riesling. Mom and Ralph were our guests tonight - the first time we have prepared a hearty meal for four. It was also the first outing for Ralph and he maneuvered the stairs into the RV with very little issue. It was incredibly heart warming to see my brother back "on his feet" - and in our home. It was great to be able to have mom come and just sit and enjoy dinner. She is always the one spending the day in the kitchen when we get together for dinner. She also went home with a newly quilted Christmas Tree Skirt - the 30 year old UFO - UnFinished Object - LOL - something most of us quilters have hiding in their storage nooks.
