A lazy day on the prairies.
Canora Campground (2 stars)
Well, a good morning for Hobbes and I to stay out of the way as Lez defrosts the fridge. I let Hobbes wander wherever he wants. If he gets to some place that I don't want him to go, I tell him. He does one of two things. He meows with a "OK, fine" sound and comes the direction I want him to go. Or, he lays down like an Egyptian pharaoh and hopes I will ignore him so he can continue.
What a beast!
It's a beautiful prairie day with light winds and a gorgeous sunset. We enjoyed sausages from the BBQ and Lez made an amazing sauce and pasta. And we washed it down with an amazing 2008 Quails' Gate Marechal Foch Reserve that we bought many years ago. What a wine!
Enjoy the sunset and get ready to hit the road tomorrow.
Lez says: From defrosting to de-cyphering - this is RV traveling full time.
The frost on the fridge flanges was starting to engulf the container of Parmesan cheese flakes. I took the hint - and vow next RV will have a self defrosting fridge. With no second fridge or a deep freeze to hold items, the tea kettle and pots were boiling water to melt the freezer and fridge as fast as I could. Frozen items and freezer packs were tucked in the thermo-picka-nic basket. All is well, and note in the day timer - in CAPS - for next month to do a quick defrost.
The second half of the day has been editing photos from the Good Spirit Lake hiking and 125 photos. I like to try to correctly identify the various species of wildlife and plant life. It was quite a chore to find what we thought were chokecherries. Fortunately a blog found on the 'net listed several xxberries and I researched them all to determine the berries are Highbush Cranberry - (Viburnum opulus) which, of course, are not of the Cranberry family. Look it up sometime! I laugh because there are a dozen other names for this cranberry wanna be. Of course, they could also be Northern Black Current. Ok blue/purple berry will be the currant and if a red berry it will be the cranberry. We won't know unless someone from Spirit Lake reaches out to us!
