So there we sat in Wascana Park.
Kings Acres, Regina (1 star)
We were supposed to leave Regina today, but Lez reminisced how, the day after our wedding, we bought Mickey D's from the Dewdney and Albert location, and ate it while sitting in Wascana Park, looking at the Legislature building. So, 49 years later, we bought lunch from McD's at Dewdney and Albert and ate it down at Wascana Park.
This time around we drove in a one ton pickup truck (through the drive-thru), unlike the 1970 Volkswagen Fastback we drove back in 1972 (it was only counter service and likely only boys who worked there). It was neat to do and Lee is glad that Lez suggested we stay another day.
Back then, we were waiting to catch a plane to the Netherlands. This time, we were waiting to catch a highway to Willow Bunch. How times change and how they stay the same.
Lez grins - the strangest memories pop up! And so often Lee doesn't hesitate to find, visit, re-enact the event. When I noted that, well that became the plan for lunch! It's the silly little things like that spontaneity makes our life full.
We spent the rest of the day taking it easy, working with our blog, editing photos. I found the right photo and created the "album cover" for this fourth section of our travels - the Northern Prairies which we may need to re-name the Eastern Prairies as we are planning to venture further south from Regina to wander from south of Moose Jaw to the lower east corner of the province and then head north and then west to be back in Edmonton mid August. Time flies as we poke into a lot of smaller centres, all with their own character to record in photos. Looking forward to seeing where Edouard Beaupre was born, and is now resting. I'm not giving out more - give you something to research as we are still fairly stuck at home. Soon to change for Alberta!
