Shaking, rattling and rolling under the Dunvegan bridge.

Lee explains that the shaking, rattling and rolling is normal. The Dunvegan bridge is a suspension bridge (fourth largest in Canada). Hence, there is movement when a vehicle passes over. Still a little disconcerting though.
Lots of history at Dunvegan. Oblate (Roman Catholic) mission, Hudson Bay Company fort, North West Company fort, a busy ferry across the Peace River in olden days and then the suspension bridge in 1960.
Another super beautiful weather day as we move from one campground to another for the night. We stopped along our short route to visit a bridge, and stop for a lunch in the RV. Well - so much more than just a bridge! The Dunvegan bridge is quite the awesome yellow structure crossing the Peace River. It is Alberta's only vehicle suspension bridge and is the fourth longest in Canada.
The campgrounds are now very quiet. September - school is underway and family vacation time now over. The downside of having fewer people at various tourist/historic/nature sights is that the parks and park info centres are closed. The various exhibits and historic buildings there are not open for viewing until next season. I took photos of the various info boards so we do have reference as to what the various exhibits and historic buildings were used for. Once again, I come away so grateful I did not live the years of the late 1800's (or earlier) as the settlers to this vast land did.
