Centennial Campground, Rocky Mountain House, AB (2 stars)
Lee was worried when he suggested to Lez that we go to visit Ram Falls. There was nothing else notable along the way and the return drive through Nordegg would be long and again without notable places to visit.
Well, Ram Falls saved Lee's day. What a gorgeous scene - the waterfall surrounded by a deep canyon filled with geological interest. And the water was so clear and azure in the sunlight.
Along the way we popped into the Elk Creek campground run by Alberta Forestry. NO services provided, but such a quiet place that would easily fit the Schooner. We have visions of a week-long dry camping adventure in the future.
Ram Falls, eh. Never heard of them. Well why not dear! Let's go.
What views! The first range of our Rocky Mountains - not in the haze of yesterday but the Aberta Blue skies today to set them off. 180 photos to go through when we got back to the RV! We have culled that to 157 to edit and choose from for today's blog. Now to make choices and tag them for the website, and give them appropriate titles that share what and why we took the photo.
Today we found all kinds of 'shrooms from baby fingernail size to palm size, from white to orange to rust colours. I do not know my mushroom ID, so we do not even touch them. We had a Whiskey Jack (Grey Jay) join us at the picnic table as we nibbled on some of the Genoa Salami from the Lethbridge Wild Bros, and we upset a squirrel as we approached the tree he was in - and busily throwing the pine cones on the ground.
Yes, the trip back was not as breath-taking, but showed off the forest, shrubbery, hills, creeks, and also a lot of dust from the the other vehicles travelling the gravel road. I know, I know - Roads Less Gravelled. Well, we didn't call this adventure Roads Not Gravelled! We retraced roads back to the Schooner and will visit Nordegg another day.
