Memories of knobby knees and teddy bears.
Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)
Today, we think back almost 75 years.
In the mid 1950's, Lee went on vacation a number of times with his family to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This is the knobby-kneed kid on the road to the Brenner Pass in 1955.
In 1955, the Worel family lived in Regina, Saskatchewan on Broder Street. That was the last street of housing at that time on the east and north end of the city. The railway from the imperial Oil Refinery north of us went right past us across the street. My memories of home begin there, after mom and dad bought what we would refer to today as a tiny home. Dad worked in the Imperial Oil office building within walking distance from our home. Another memory from that home - something most of my generation and after would be watching was a Puffer Belly chug its way from the refinery, on that rail line.
Brownie was very special, and very worn through his fur by the time he joined all other teddys, as memories of our chlldhood. The very big bear is not one I have many memories of, but I do believe it was from my maternal grandfather - Grampa Hill.
