The Big Country all over again.

Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)

One of the first movies Lee saw in Canada after emigration was the western classic The Big Country. Well, we watched it tonight. A little slow in places, but entertaining all the same.

I enjoyed the movie last night and I look forward to more! We never watched any of the olde spaghetti westerns as kids and going to the 'movies' in a public theatre was not part of our world.

Various memories come to mind now. Sunday night Ed Sullivan, was a staple TV night. At that time, the TV was only black and white. Colour TV came later. Romper Room was another morning program staple for me until I started school. It aired from 1953 to 1994. How lifestyles change. Mom rarely watched any TV raising 4 busy kids. When our elder son was little, his every Saturday morning was spent watching various cartoons and I could clean up after breakfast, and do various household chores.
