A beautiful Volkswagen collection.
Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)
We went into Nanaimo for Lez's medical appointment at the hospital and then stopped by the VW dealership on the way out. Our purpose was to determine the ease with which we could get into and out of several VW models. Hopefully this would narrow the market for when we downsize from Chuck the truck.
Well, the dealership has an interesting collection of old VWs. They have a 1966 21 window bus, a 1969 beetle, a Karmann Ghia, a Thing and a 1980's transporter with about 900 km on it.
And the entry and exit test went well too.
A large number of the local Black Tailed Deer were wandering near the access road in Surfside RV Resort later in the day. They seem to be less wary of vehicles than people.
Up early for an appointment at the Nanaimo General, all is well as can be expected as Arthur-Itis is a fact of life. A lot of sitting and waiting for a short appointment, as there were many people there. A minor bonus LOL - the TV entertainment screen was showing an old TV series, CSI New York. What a step back in time catching the TV nights we never missed.
Since we were in Nanaimo, we decided to check out their VW dealership (gotta check to compare Edmonton's dealership). Some cool memories, as we checked out their old VW's. OK, so we also checked out the ease of getting in and out of the various current models. It is a harsh reminder that the ease of getting in and out of our pick-up is way easier than the low-to-the ground cars. We will be testing out more vehicles.
We also learned of our favourite Oceanside General, Brady van Herk's injury. He was boarded into a rink stanchion during the game in Port Alberni and is dealing with some injuries. Our wishes for a quick recovery go his way.
We are ensconced back at our quiet spot on the Englishman River estuary.
