Travel Diary Back Home

A cloudless day the whole day.

Clearwater Country Inn, Clearwater BC (2 stars)

Driving west on the Yellowhead highway as I have done so many times before. It started out at -3c and ended as +28c in Clearwater. There was virtually no traffic the entire way.

Just before Jasper, at the usual spots, there was a herd of Mountain Sheep close to the road. Near the Jasper grass airport, there was a large herd of Elk. Not where I had ever seen them before.

South of Blue River, I watched a black bear stroll across the highway in front of me.

A week or so ago, there was a fairly large rock slide about 25 kilometers west of Jasper. It has taken them a week to open one lane, the west-bound lane, to alternating traffic. As I drove slowly by, there were some workers using jack hammers to break up the large pieces of rock. The name of the company on their air compressor unit read Dynamite. Ok, then.
