Tonight was the night. My fiftieth gig to see Streetheart. It was at the Casino in Red Deer. Looked to be sold out. The boys put on a terrific show.
And then we came to the end of the main set list.
Jeff Neill thanked the facility people, the stage crew and others, as he usually does. Such a great guy.
And then, before thanking the fans that were there, he pointed to me. He told the crowd that Lez and I were a couple of the band's best friends, that we had lost Lez a few months ago, and that this was my 50th time seeing them live. 50 gigs in the band's 50th year.
It was a bit emotional for me, but I made it through. A lot of people around me gave me hugs and pats on the back. Some even wanted to have their picture taken with me. Very touching and very nice. I will remember that for a long time.
And then they ended with Under My Thumb. Perfect!
