We are having very contradictory weather events around the prairies. There are forest fires in northern Alberta and Saskatchewan, and in the Northwest Territories.
And in the lower parts of the provinces, we have been deluged with huge amounts of rainfall. Near Edmonton, a road bridge was entirely washed away. Edmonton's storm ponds are mostly full when by now they should be mostly empty.
Edmonton has set a new record for rainfall in June. We have received 262 mm of rain this month, surpassing the old record of 217 mm set in June 1914.
