A really big bump in the road.

Map - Canora to Tisdale

Tisdale Lions Campground (2 stars)

I don't know how to describe this day, the worst day we have had since we started this adventure in April 2020. We seem to be having some problems with our RV water pump, we are having difficulties in filling our fresh water tank (we think) and we drove another (no swearing on the Roads Less Gravelled website) absolutely crappy Saskatchewan highway (number 9 from Canora to Hudson Bay).

And then it went downhill from there.

We arrived at a campground in Hudson Bay that was just terrible. Either no power or no water at their sites. And the flies of some kind (really big ones) are all over. We decide to look for another campground and drive to Tisdale for a promising one.

And then it really went downhill from there.

I needed to pull over on a highway with no shoulders. I was really worried about being a hazard on the road so I decided to back up in short order onto an approach. Well, I hit the side of the ditch with Chuck, he bent on an angle, the Schooner was level and as a result the Schooner damaged the top of the box rail quite badly.

We are moored in Tisdale now and Lee is licking his wounds. Tomorrow we will stop by a body shop to see if they can temporarily bend the box rail back into shape and we can continue until real repairs can be done.

Lez helps Lee resolve to put this behind us and keep ourselves on the roads less gravelled.

Lez notes: There is a saying about the prairies that "you can see your dog run away for 10 miles". Well, as we camp in many smaller townsites' camping spots, I have another. "We can hear a vehicle coming down a gravel road for 10 kilometers". It is so very peaceful here in the Tisdale campsite, catching the sunset after a very upsetting afternoon.

Lee's blog will explain it all, and I am just so thankful that we are still able to travel and will have another story to add to our "life and times" travelling Roads Less Gravelled.

On a positive note, I have a wee surgery to deal with and now have a date booked for August in Edmonton. Life goes on and so will we!
