Good memories for both of us.

We watched a movie last night that was filmed in one of our favourite places, the Cypress Hills. We found the movie quite by accident and were surprised to see that it was filmed on the Reesor Ranch and in Maple Creek.

Reesor Ranch is on the north slope of the Cypress Hills (referrred to locally as the "bench") right on the Alberta-Saskatchewan border. We have stayed there a number of times (it is also a bed and breakfast) and we consider it and the surrounding area a place we love the most anywhere. We have been visiting the Cypress Hills since 1971 when our good friends Alf and Anne Poulter moved to Maple Creek after selling their farm north of Regina.

If you are curious about the place Lez and I rave about, you can get a good idea from the movie called "A Cowboy Christmas".

For many years, you have no doubt read our adventures as we headed out to Maple Creek and the Cypress Hills. When I met Lee, he introduced me to Alf and Anne, a couple who lived on a farm north of the city of Regina, where we lived. They never had children and I think Lee and his brother and sister were very close to them.

We often spent a day visiting them, where Anne would have fresh baked goodies and tea ready to enjoy. They knew lots of farming neighbours who would often be visiting while we were there too. The ladies were filled with stories of the prairies, and advice on life. I enjoyed those visits. Lee would be helping Alf either in the fields, or mending fences. They did not have any cattle then, but did have a beauty of a dog "Spence".

When they sold their farm and moved to Maple Creek, we continued to visit them, and met many new neighbours and friends of theirs. When they passed, we continued to head out to Maple Creek, enjoying the Cypress Hills and the surrounding area.

As flat as our Saskatchewan prairie is, trust me, it is far from flat, filled with coulees. Look it up LOL. There is something about standing at the top of a view of the prairie, known as 'The Bench' where you really can watch your dog run away for 3 days.

So it was with great surprise to watch the movie Lee notes, and see that it takes place not far from where we love to visit and have gotten to know so well.
