The fire that blew through the area was devastating. About a third of the townsite was destroyed. South of the townsite was almost fully consumed. Luckily our favourite Whistlers campground was spared because it does not have large trees growing in it. The nearby Wapiti and Wabasso campgrounds were destroyed.

It was devastating to see the loss of so many trees scorched or killed by the fire that hit the Jasper townsite. It was a spooky feeling as we drove past some of the structure's stone fireplaces where all that stand on what would have been a yard and home for a family for many years.
