The big hop home.
Map - Inuvik to Dawson CityBonanza RV Park, Dawson City YT (2 stars)
Lee convinced Lez to drive the entire distance from Inuvik to Dawson City in one day. That became almost 800 kilometers of bump and grind, dust and mud, and great views even in the thick cloud.
We got back around 7 pm and moved the Schooner from storage to a serviced site. We had a wonderful home cooked meal and bottle of wine. That was it. We hit the sack around 9 pm and slept ever so comfortably in our own bed until 9 am.
Well, actually Lee drove so it was no big decision LOL. It was however, quite the hop, dodge and miss ride - as he maneuvered Chuck around large rocks sticking above the "surface" and sharp edged holes in the same surface - often just after hitting one or the other. There were times we were passed by locals who zip along, probably not paying any attention to the beautiful nature all around them, and leaving us with a yellow/brown dust to try to see through for the next five seconds.
No surprise, they live here - and enjoy these vistas regularly.
No regrets leaving the Schooner docked instead of hauling up further north.
