Carefully navigating the masses of cruise ship tourists.
On the bus out from our RV Park in Whitehorse, we stopped in Carcross for a stretch. If you look only right, you see a lot of dilapidated and empty buildings, some dating from 100 years ago. If you look left, you see a series of small businesses in buildings meant to imitate west coast long houses. They are painted with murals and offer services such as a coffee roastery, an ice cream shop, an art store, a bistro and a few more. Lee made the comment that if we had time we should drive out to Carcross and spend a little more leisurely time in town. Famous last words.
After the bus failure, we now have an hour in Carcross whereupon Lee and Lez poke around the old buildings, enjoy some ice cream and listen to the musician playing live on the deck of the bistro. We got to see Carcross in a leisurely manner after all.
Ahh - shopping and poking. We enjoyed ice cream cones and listened to a local musician. I could have sat and enjoyed his playing, but the bus was ready - time to move on.
Back to the RV, and were quietly thankful that Hobbes wasn't subjected to the heat that met us in the RV. Yes, we still think of him often. We do, however, enjoy the sightseeing excursions without worrying about him with delays getting back to the Schooner, such as we had today.
